Reviews and Additional Information

  1. Bernadette Beard says:

Really beautiful hotel. In a fabulous location with first class service.

  2. mitch says:

Just stayed a Saturday night at the Swan Hotel. Beautiful location, staff very pleasant and helpful. The only bad points were having paid the extra for a river view, did not realise that the room, would be on the ground floor (would be terrible in the summer as everyone sitting outside would literally be looking into your room). As it was end of January we still had to pull the shutter down on the windows for privacy due to the fact that anyone going outside to the smoking area, or even walking into the hotel from the car park can look into your room. The only other bad point was, they need better lighting, not just the ceiling lights, especially in the bar area of an evening.

  3. Miss Maunder says:

The Swan hotel does not care about their guests. They took our wedding money over 6K, cancelled our wedding 3 weeks before our wedding date due to flooding and would not give us our money back. The manageress said we ‘were only worrying about 1 day in our lives’. We had to borrow the money to book a new venue. Morally this hotel did not do the right thing. Forget the designer fixtures go to a hotel where the management care about their guests.

  4. Louise Ettleman says:

We have just returned from a two day break in The Swan Hotel and Spa. It was an absolute haven, perfect location, perfect accommodation and the staff were wonderful. Spa treatments were awesome and the therapists were incredible. Food and waiter service couldn’t have been better and the best sleep I have had in a hotel. I’m counting the days to returning!

  5. Jackie says:

The only trouble with staying here is that you don’t want to move. The room was beautifully appointed and the restaurants offered an excellent choice of delicious food. The staff were really well trained and very friendly and approachable and we didn’t even pay big money, especially for the Lake District.

  6. Graham says:

Don’t think I’ve stayed at a better place in the Lakes. I would recommend it to anyone.

  7. Brian B says:

Don’t let the fact that this place dates back to the 17th Century put you off, it is more modern than most hotels and the level of service is first class. The location is stunning and if you want to work out there are excellent leisure facilities.

  8. William says:

What a fantastic place. Great view of the lake and a wonderful old building. The leisure facilities were very up to date however, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had no complaints about the room either which was extremely well appointed and to top it all we got a very good price.

  9. Vic says:

We booked this hotel on the last minute and were absolutely delighted with our choice. The view was beautiful, the staff were wonderful, and the food was superb. True, a lot of compliments, but it really was good. We would go back with no hesitation.

  10. John Sparrow says:

The Swan at Newby Bridge is a smart hotel in a lovely location, spoilt by the ever-present whingeing pop music. Why not give the place some tone and play some Mozart, or better still, nothing.
