Cartmel

Cartmel is picturesque village around 2 miles west of Grange-over-Sands. With its pretty cottages and the delightful Cartmel Priory, it’s usually a destination favoured by those who value peace and quiet. The tranquillity is shattered though for six days each year when thousands descend on local racecourse for the Cartmel races. Hotels in the area are usually booked months in advance for race days.

Jan 08 - City centre restaurants in Manchester and Liverpool have failed to gain a coveted Michelin Star in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide to Great Britain and Ireand published yesterday. The North West restaurants retaining their single star were Juniper in Altrincham, Northcote Manor in the Ribble Valley, the Arkle at the Chester Grosvenor, L'Enclume in Cartmel, and Sharrow Bay on Ullswater.
