Blackburn Ice Arena

The Blackburn Ice Arena is the only permanent ice skating rink in Lancashire. It is an Olympic size venue with seating for over 3,000 spectators.

The arena is the North West Regional Centre of Ice Skating Excellence and offers tuition from qualified professionals to suit all levels of ability. It is also home to the Blackburn Hawks ice hockey team.

The arena is open for public ice skating sessions 7 days a week, holding general daytime and evening sessions, plus family sessions and discos. For skating times and prices visit the official Blackburn Ice Arena website.

Facilities include a café, bar, plus a skate shop selling ice skating and ice hockey equipment.

Blackburn Ice Arena is situated at the Peel Retail and Leisure Park in Lower Audley, on the outskirts of Blackburn town centre.

Other attractions in the area include the Bowlplex 10 pin bowling alley and the Vue Cinema. There are two restaurants next to the arena; Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito.

This used to be the only ice rink in NW England. However, in April 2007 the Altrincham Ice Dome (near Manchester) opened.
