North Pier

The Grade II listed North Pier opened in 1863 and is the most traditional of the three Blackpool piers. It offers a 1500-seat theatre, a carousel and an amusement arcade. The Merrie England and Carousel Bars are also here and feature regular live entertainment.

The bar at the end of the pier is the most relaxing bar in the world. Sitting in the sun lounge watching the sea is great.

Interesting Facts

Sooty, the popular TV glove puppet, was purchased by Harry Corbett from a stall on Blackpool's North Pier in 1948.

It was originally yellow but Corbett added a black mouth, nose and ears so it would stand out on black and white TV.
