South Pier
Blackpool’s South Pier opened in 1893 and was originally called Victoria Pier. It is situated opposite the Pleasure Beach and reflects its funfair atmosphere.
Adrenaline Zone offers a number of extreme rides such as Skyscreamer, a reverse bungee jump, and Skycoaster, a freefall swing ride that swoops out over the sea.
In 2010 the crazy mouse ride at the end of the pier was replaced by a log flume. Other rides at the South Pier include a carousel, dodgems, and a waltzer.
The Laughing Donkey bar offers live entertainment and a beer garden with great views of the sea and beach. Other facilities include numerous stalls and games, fast food stands, and two amusement arcades packed with the latest video games.
In July 2010 Six Piers Ltd announced plans to develop the arcade building into a new family entertainment centre. The proposed £8 million development includes a tenpin bowling alley, food court, soft play area, American pool lounge, and new bar. The new attraction is scheduled to open before the start of the 2012 season.
