The hotel was taken over by Hallmark Hotels in the first quarter of 2009. They are aiming to make it the first 4 star hotel in Carlisle city centre.

Great location and price, but a bit tired looking in places. Nevertheless, the good easily outweighed the bad and we would be quite happy to stay here again. Parking was easy and it was nice to have a lift, even though I try to use the stairs as much as possible. Good breakfast.

As we were travelling by train this hotel could not have been better situated. It was also perfect for exploring Carlisle's eating and drinking establishments. I would agree that it is a little past its best, but when you take into account the positives it gets the thumbs up from me.
