Peckforton Castle
Despite having the appearance of a medieval castle, Peckforton Castle was actually built in Victorian times when follies were the rage. This Grade I listed building is now a popular hotel and wedding venue.
38 rooms or ‘bed chambers’ are scattered around the maze-like building. Finding your room is half the fun of staying here.
Peckforton Castle is situated near the Cheshire village of Tarporley, around 15 miles south-east of Chester.

Views from some of the rooms and over Cheshire are amazing. The Cellar bar is candle lit and ever so romantic. One can sit and imagine "How it was in the days of "Richard The Lionheart" and "The Knights of King Arthur".
Believe me this is an experience not to be missed.
The restaurant could be deemed as expensive and yes there are eateries close to the Castle that are great. But why drive or take a taxi. Relax, sit back and let the excellent Peckforton staff serve you in their outstanding restaurant and using the best of Local Produce. Excellent food, a fine glass of wine washed down with a liquer coffee or better still a pint or G&T in The Cellar Bar before retiring for the night, and returning after a night of bliss for a breakfast that is plentiful and provides the perfect start to the day.
Finally, watch the Peacocks that adorn the lawns and walls of the castle and do not to forget to bring your camera.
This is a popular venue for weddings, but I must say in no way did this interfere in our stay and experience.
We have enjoyed all our stays at Peckforton Castle and will continue to take the opportunity to book a night or two there.
