Stonecross Manor Hotel

Situated on the edge of Kendal, the Stonecross Manor was originally built as an orphanage in the mid-nineteenth century. Now converted to a hotel, it offers 30 en-suite bedrooms, each with TV, telephone, desk, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Many of the rooms also feature four-poster beds.

Catherine’s Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and was named after Catherine Parr, born at Kendal Castle and the sixth wife of Henry VIII. Other facilities at the hotel include a bar, wedding and conference suites, an indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and car park.

We asked for a room with a four poster which we duly got and that certainly added to the experience. We also found the staff to be very conscientious and hard working and they really tried to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. We didn't try dinner, but breakfast was excellent and I'm sure you could pay double what we did in the heart of the Lakes for what we had or even less. Recommended.

As a base to visit the Lake District we thought this place was ideal. The room was perfectly adequate and contained everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pool provided an excellent place to unwind after a hard day's walking.

The room was perfectly adequate for our needs and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Excellent breakfast! Only gripe was the 10am check out which we found a little on the early side.

Spent a lovely weekend here for our anniversary and stayed in a room with a four poster. The bar and restaurant staff were particularly friendly and all in all we went away very satisfied.
