Aquarium of the Lakes

Located at Lakeside, on the southern tip of Windermere, the Aquarium of the Lakes is Britain’s award winning freshwater aquarium. More than 30 spectacular, naturally themed habitats show the diversity of life in the lakes. Displays include an incredible underwater tunnel, an otters’ riverbank home and a Morecambe Bay display.

The Aquarium of the Lakes is open daily throughout the year. It can be reached by road or by boat with Windermere Lake Cruises (combination boat/aquarium tickets are available).

03/08 - A new exhibit was unveiled at the Aquarium of the Lakes by television presenter Michaela Strachan. The £100,000 Virtual Dive Bell allows visitors to get close and personal with the undersea life via interactive computer screenings.

I have to say that I was disappointed with my visit. I paid £15 for 2 adults and we walked around the place in 20 minutes. Plus I had to pay £3 for parking. They could do educational talks about the fish to make it more interesting. When in the walk through tunnel they could have a voice over the speakers explaining the different types of fish. I didn't have a clue what was in the tank. More information on the side of the enclosures would have been helpful also.
The staff didn't seem happy to be working there either, not once did anyone say hello. Not even the person who took my money.
I give The Aquarium of the Lakes 4/10.
