Craig Manor Hotel

My wife & I have just returned from a 2 night break at Craig Manor.On the way over we "nominated" the best bits from our previous visits to other hotels in the lakes. We have visited a good number of medium sized hotels over the years & hoped that this one would leave us with good thoughts. Each of the hotels we have stayed at had their own "good points", room - The Castle Inn, view - Beech Hill, restaurant - The Wild Boar, food - The Hideaway, facilities - the Newby Bridge. However this hotel offers the best all round features.The food was excellent and the staff were impeccable. Our room was cosy, very clean & we had a great view (room 215!). It was far enough out of town to feel "away from it" but close enough to walk in & visit our old watering holes. I am not one for revisiting places but would make an exception here.

We paid extra for a 'lake view' room and could not see the lake. When we complained they said they should have said 'lake facing' but again we saw no lake. The room was small and in need of refurbishment although the bathroom was modern. The restaurant food and service was good. We would not stay again as we felt the hotel description was very misleading.

The hotel has a great location, close to the lake and many shops and restaurants. Service and the room were good. The only downside was the lack of pool and leisure facilities at the hotel itself.
