The Glenburn Hotel

The Glenburn Hotel is a no-smoking property situated between the centres of Windermere and Bowness. All rooms are en-suite and have direct dial telephones, TVs, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel also owns 2 self-catering cottages that can accommodate up to 6 persons.

Guests of the hotel enjoy complimentary access to the leisure facilities at the nearby Parklands Country Club. These include swimming pool, gym, sauna and snooker room.

This is a very convenient place to stay and they really do do their best to make you feel welcome. The room was just about bearable size wise, but at least it was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good. Ate out the rest of the time. Not bad overall really.

I think it might depend how much you pay when you stay here, judging by some of the other reviews. We got a good deal and were quite satisfied on the whole. We agree, however, that the room could have been a bit bigger and the 10.30 checkout, whilst not unusual, is a little on the early side.

I stayed one night in the this hotel in the superior double bedroom with the four poster bed. I had white wine and chocolates laid out (box of chocolates were tiny and not very nice paid £10!). I have to say I was pretty disappointed the jacuzzi bath and the shower was small and disappointing. The breakfast in the morning was poor and not a lot of choice for the more upper end price of B&B. The staff were ok but I felt quite uncomfortable especially when we were getting chased out our room at 10:40 when check out was 10:30, only 10 minutes late. In summary I have stayed in many hotels in Windermere for half the price that were a lot better.
