Glenridding
Glenridding is the largest of Ullswater’s lakeside settlements and is situated at the southern end of the lake. It was once a busy mining town but today its streets are popular with tourists, many of which have come to climb nearby Helvellyn.
Ullswater Steamers operate from here. A popular activity is to take a cruise to Howtown and walk back along the lake’s shore.
The Ullswater Tourist Information Centre is a good place to get leaftlets for local attractions and obtain travel and tourism advice.
