Grizedale Forest

A trip to the 6,000 acre Grizedale Forest offers a great day out in the Lake District. Maintained by the Forestry Commission, Grizedale is most famous for its Sculpture Trail but offers other activities such as the fantastic Go Ape assault course, mountain biking and more.

The best place to start any trip to the forest is at the Grizedale Visitor Centre. Here you’ll find car parking, the offices of Go Ape and Grizedale Mountain Bikes, a children’s playground, shop and café.

The Forestry Commission have launched a new shuttle bus service in a bid to cut traffic congestion in the Lake District. The Grizedale Wanderer X30 connects Haverthwaite to the Grizedale Visitor Centre at Grizedale Forest. The service commenced on March 21 and will run until November 2 2008.

Hi my name is Nicola. I came to Grizedale Forest last May with my air cadet. I really enjoyed it and I would like to say a big thanks to all the staff for letting us go out and having a load of fun.
