Keswick Launch

Keswick Launch runs a roundtrip, 50-minute ferry service around Derwent Water. The boats depart from their dock, just a few minutes walk from Keswick, and call at:

  • Ashness Gate
  • Lodore
  • High Brandlehow
  • Low Brandlehow
  • Hawes End
  • Nichol End

In the summer (mid-March to mid-November) boats depart every thirty minutes from 10 am until 7pm. The route alternates between clockwise and anti-clockwise around the lake. There is also an evening cruise at 7.30 pm that lasts for 1 hour and includes a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink.

During the winter months the ferry operates 5 – 6 times daily.

Keswick Launch also has rowing and motorboats for hire.

It's a very nice cruise. They don't mind you hopping on and off. So you can get off and have a walk around and then wait for the next boat to come along.

To reach Keswick Launch you can walk from the town to the lake via Hope Park. It's a very charming park with a miniature golf course and attractive gardens. It's very pleasant indeed. You'll also pass the Theatre of the Lake.
