Pooley Bridge

Pooley Bridge is a small, picturesque village located at the head of Ullswater. Named after the bridge here that crosses the River Eamont, the village was once a substantial fishing and farming community.

Ullswater Steamers operate a service from here. Brochures, maps, and travel and tourism information can be obtained from the Pooley Bridge Tourist Information Centre.

We ate as a family at the Crown this weekend and it was appaling! The bar girl was like the living dead and the food was expensive and tasteless ..a real rip off. This place should shut down

I love Pooley Bridge. However I feel that the pubs to some extent let the village down. We ate at the crown and were very disappointed at the quality of the meal. Having paid almost £10 for a burger I expected better. The food seemed to be microwaved as it arrived only 5 minutes after ordering. It's a real shame as it has lots of potential to be the good family pub it once was.

My wife and her friends visited Pooley Bridge last weekend and unfortunately ate at the Crown pub. A freshly cooked steak and ale pie with chips and veg was at the table before my wife had returned from paying for it. How fresh indeed. The manager insisted that it was freshly prepared. What, in 90 seconds! It was returned with the rest.

We visited Pooley Bridge at the weekend. It is a lovely village. We ate at the Crown pub , the first pub as you enter the village. I wouldn't recommend you eat in here. The food wasn't value for money or filling. I would go as far to say they don't like tourists or children. The bar staff were obnoxious.
