Rampsbeck Country House

The Rampsbeck Country House Hotel is a charming 18th century manor house around 1½ miles south of Pooley Bridge. Standing on the western shore of Ullswater, in 18 acres of landscaped gardens, it is widely recognised as occupying one of best locations in the UK.

All the rooms at this hotel are unique and individually furnished. All, however, include TV, radio, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. Some have private balconies.

They advertise this hotel as having one of the best locations in the UK and they are not wrong. An absolutely superb spot with stunning views of Ullswater and the surrounding fells. The house itself is also magnificent and the service was first class. We would recommend it to anyone.

The proprietor and staff made us feel very welcome and looked after. Dinner is served in a comfortable dining room overlooking the lake; the food well cooked and menus well thought out.
Extensive lounges overlooking the gardens and lakes makes it a good place to stay if you are with a large party.
Highlight was lying in bath whilst enjoying the view of the lake!

The restaurant here is excellent and serves very imaginative food. It also has a great setting (on the edge of the lake). The room was charming and very old fashioned. This may not appeal to some but it is exactly what I was looking for.
