Regent by the Lake Hotel

The Regent Hotel is situated at Waterhead, on the shores of Windermere and close to Ambleside. It has been run by the Hewitt family for over 25 years.

All 30 rooms are en-suite and have TV and video players with complimentary library, radio, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel also boasts a heated indoor swimming pool and a renowned restaurant.

Hotel was over priced, web site overstates sizes of rooms. Pool small, kids paddling pool is bigger.Stuffy atmosphere at breakfast. Would not go back.

Loved staying here. We had a lovely garden room with a balcony. Massive breakfast which kept us going all day on our walk. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and modern.

Fantastic location on Lake Windermere not that far from Ambleside. Run by one family not a chain so the service is a bit more personalised. Good food, attentive staff, and nice heated indoor swimming pool.

This is a good hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. You can also take a boat ride from here with Windermere Lake Cruises.

Excellent food here. Swimming pool was also nice. The hotel has also has good views of Windermere. Ambleside is about 10 minutes walk.

Hotel was clean and the food excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. My only gripe was that the pool was a bit on the small side.
