Arrived at Storrs Hall having booked luxury double room with Lake View plus Dinner for first night at the cost of £356 for night with dinner £286 for 2nd night no dinner. Shown to room, yes lake view but not the view at the front which I expected side view between bushes. Room smelt damp, cheap carpeting in room had tear in it. Very hot day windows all painted shut only top 3" open and were around 12 ft in the air so couldn't adjust. Felt depressing and had the air of an old folks home. Asked to be moved, they told me it was health and safety that the windows didn't open!! Eh! New room no lake view available, bit more pleasant ambiance £265 B & B. Lying in bed ceiling covered in water stains. Both bathrooms had carpets in them, very unhygienic, live with one man and know what that's like! Shower absolutely useless, trickle of water and it was a shower in the bath.Completely over priced. On this initial impression decided to cancel dinner on first night. Returned first night at around 10.40pm wanted to sit at front overlooking lakes, beautiful night, "sorry night porter has locked french doors" we had to trawl round the building in the dark with our glasses. Breakfast OK, hotel in good position. Got a much bigger tip for itself than it is in reality! Stayed in luxury hotels all over the world, love them, this is not luxury.

Shabby not luxury. No heating. Cold throughout stay. Given a plug in heater they say they accommodated you. Breakfast worst ever had, a dry brick we couldn't cut through. Room attendant started to work on our room an hour before we had even left by moving furniture around ready for the next guests. Zbeds to be added before we had even vacated. General Manager unprofessional on complaints. He laughed and didn't care whatsoever. Much better hotels elsewhere. They are overpriced for what they think they offer, but then they offer heavy discounted rates to persuade people to stay there. Once you have stayed in a luxury hotel this is far from it. The view made up for their rubbish.

A real touch of class - lovely building, beautiful grounds, stunning views. Inside is just as impressive with its numerous antiques and long windows. The room also left nothing to be desired and the service was first class.

This is certainly one to tick off your list if you are in to beautiful buildings combined with spectacular scenery. I found the whole experience incredibly relaxing, a bit like going back to a bygone age. Not the cheapest, but you've got to have a little treat every once in a while.

Must be one of the most beautiful settings in the Lakes. Worth going whether you stay or not.

I guess it's a bit of a treat staying here, but it was worth every penny in my opinion. The room was massive and beautifully appointed and the staff were extremely hard-working and efficient. As other reviews have mentioned, the views are absolutely breathtaking.

I think it would be quite difficult to find a hotel in a more spectacular location and that's why we stayed here. It's certainly not the cheapest place in the Lakes, but I don't think we'll forget our stay for a very long time.
