Waterhead Hotel

The Waterhead Hotel boasts an enviable position at the northern end of Coniston Water. It’s comes as no surprise that guests have included luminaries such as John Ruskin and Charles Darwin.

The hotel boasts 23 unique rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and complimentary toiletries, TV, and tea/coffee making facilities.

Enjoy fantastic views of the Old Man while dining in the restaurant, or look out onto the lake while relaxing in the lounge. Extensive lawns lead down to the shore and the hotel’s private jetty.

Coniston village, the Steam Yacht Gondola, and Coniston Launch are all just a short walk from the hotel.

Great location does not have to cost you a lot of money as this place proved. There are stunning views of either the lake or the fells depending on which side you stay and the room and service were also first class. Breakfast could've been a little bit bigger, but everything considered we went away very satisfied.

As keen walkers we stayed here with the intention of climbing the Old Man. What a brilliant surprise when we walked into the breakfast room and were presented with a perfect view of it. Guess we are a bit biased, but we didn't find anything to complain about in our two day stay here.
