The Famous Wild Boar Hotel
This former coaching inn is set in the beautiful Gilpin Valley, around 3 miles east of Bowness and Windermere. It takes its name from the legend of Sir Richard de Gilpin of Crook who is said to have killed the last wild boar in the area here.
The hotel boasts its own restaurant and cocktail bar. Guests are also welcome to use the extensive health and fitness facilities at the hotel’s sister property, the Low Wood Hotel.
