Albert Dock
Liverpool’s Albert Dock opened in 1846 as a combined dock and warehouse system. They were designed to accommodate sailing ships, but the advent of powered vessels heralded their decline and eventual closure in 1972. Recent redevelopments, costing in excess of £100 million, have seen the area transformed into Liverpool’s biggest tourist attraction housing numerous museums, hotels, bars and restaurants including:
- Beatles Story
- Shops (Liverpool Pictures, MCC, Nauticalia etc.)
- Restaurants & Bars (PanAm, Baby Cream etc.)
- Express by Holiday Inn
- Merseyside Maritime Museum
- Tate Liverpool
