Echo Arena Liverpool
With a maximum capacity of 11,000 the Echo Arena is the largest performance venue in Liverpool and one of the biggest in the country. It is situated at the King’s Dock and is one half of the ACC (Arena and Convention Centre) Liverpool. The other half of the complex is the BT Convention Centre.
Since opening in 2008 the waterfront venue has hosted concerts from some of the world’s biggest names in music including Justin Bieber, JLS, Usher, Westlife, Beyonce, Coldplay, Oasis, and Lady Gaga. It has also been the venue for comedy shows, children’s entertainment, and sporting events such as boxing, darts, and wrestling.
Events and concerts scheduled for 2012 include Snow Patrol, Olly Murs, The Wanted, JLS, Steps, Diversity, Westlife, John Bishop, and Andrea Bocelli.
Tickets can be purchased in person from the ticket office at the Echo Arena. Opening times are Monday to Saturday 9 am to 6 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. On event nights it stays open until the main act appears on stage. Tickets can also be purchased by telephoning 0844 8000 400 or online at the official website, Ticketmaster, or See Tickets.
The closest mainline train station is Liverpool Lime Street, around 20 minutes’ walk from Echo Arena. Visitors not wishing to walk can hop onto the Merseyrail network at Liverpool Lime Street and catch a train to James Street station, roughly ½ mile from the arena, or take one of the CityLink buses from Queen Square Bus Station/Liverpool Lime Street.
To reach the Echo Arena by car, follow the brown tourist signs marked Waterfront, located on all major roads into Liverpool city centre. Drivers with satellite navigation systems should note that the postcode for the Echo Arena Liverpool is L3 4FP.
The Echo Arena boasts its own car park with space for 1,600 vehicles. A flat rate of £5 is charged on event nights. There are further car parking choices at Liverpool One.
The 3-star Jurys Inn and the 4-star Staybridge Suites are adjacent to the Echo Arena. Cheap hotels nearby include the Premier Inn and the Holiday Inn Express, both at Albert Dock, and the Formule 1 and Ibis.
