Liverpool Regeneration - The Big Dig
The Big Dig is one of the largest regeneration schemes currently underway in Europe. Over £3 billion is being spent in transforming Liverpool over the next decade. It encompasses a number of major projects, many of which will be complete by 2008 when the city will be crowned European Capital of Culture. These include:
- Paradise Street Project (Liverpool One)
- Kings Dock
- Lime Street Gateway - A 28-storey building will mark the location of Lime Street station, the city’s main transport hub.
- City Centre Movement Strategy - Over £70 million is being invested to improve the roads and public spaces in Liverpool city centre.
- Mann Island
