Liverpool Regeneration - The Big Dig

The Big Dig is one of the largest regeneration schemes currently underway in Europe. Over £3 billion is being spent in transforming Liverpool over the next decade. It encompasses a number of major projects, many of which will be complete by 2008 when the city will be crowned European Capital of Culture. These include:

  • Paradise Street Project (Liverpool One)
  • Kings Dock
  • Lime Street Gateway - A 28-storey building will mark the location of Lime Street station, the city’s main transport hub.
  • City Centre Movement Strategy - Over £70 million is being invested to improve the roads and public spaces in Liverpool city centre.
  • Mann Island
