Gastro's

Situated on the fringe of Manchester's famous Gay Village in the former home of Gaia, Gastro's is a welcome addition to the city's culinary landscape.

In the basement of this restored Victorian warehouse you’ll find a classy restaurant with pine flooring, exposed walls and open kitchen. The modern British menu focuses on ethically-sourced, organic produce from the North West of England.

If you like what you’ve eaten head upstairs to the delicatessen where many of the ingredients can be purchased. The well-stocked area offers local cheeses, cured meats, fish, sauces, chutneys, olives, cakes, wines and more. Here you’ll also find a café offering the same menu as the restaurant, plus early morning coffees and breakfasts, light brunches, and meals to go.

I had a late lunch Gastro's at the start of the year and was treated to a tantalisingly tasteful Lancashire corned beef hash whilst my wife devoured her favourite eggs Benedict dish with organic, free range farm fresh eggs - overall a taste sensation! Great value lunch menu. Lovingly prepared by the top notch team of chefs. Attentive service beyond belief from all the staff. We enjoyed the ambience so much that we ended up staying for champagne (and superb coffees) until around 6pm and were very close to joining the early supper diners! Until the next time, our taste buds are longing for more.

I went last night and was thoroughly impressed by the food and service at Gastro's. I had the scallops and pork to start which were excellent, if a little salty, and my partner had mussels which were served with a delicious sauce. I had the lamb for my main which was absolutely divine and my partner had the fish of the day which was delightfully fresh and really tasted of the sea. To finish we had cheeses. Overall, the restaurant is a lovely addition to Manchester, with friendly service and nicely presented, different food. Whilst it may be a little on the pricey side, and the portion sizes a tad small, it is a very nice restaurant with high quality, exquisite food. 4/5

Had a fantastic experience the other night. Service was quick, attentive and friendly. I had the venison, cooked rare as recommended by the chef. Delicious and tender. The roast beetroot that accompanied it was a thoughtful addition. I would recommend and hope to visit again soon.
