People's History Museum
The People's History Museum tells the extraordinary story of ordinary people and how they changed the world. It looks at working people’s lives at work, home and leisure over the last 200 years.
Themes covered in the main galleries include the Peterloo Massacre, the birth of democratic ideas, the growth of trade unionism, political parties, political issues, and working class leisure activities. The museum is also home to the world’s biggest collection of political and trade union banners.
The museum usually hosts two changing exhibitions a year. There is also a full programme of events throughout the year.
Facilities include a café bar with riverside terrace, and a gift shop selling cards, books, and souvenirs.
The museum is open 7 days a week. Opening times are 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free.
The People’s History Museum is situated on the Left Bank in the Spinningfields area of Manchester.
The museum just ¼ mile from Salford Central train station. Visitors arriving at Piccadilly train station can catch the free Metroshuttle bus (1 or 3).
The nearest car parking is at the NCP car parks on Bridge Street, New Bailey Street, and New Quay Street.
