Budget airline Ryanair today announced 2 new ski routes from Liverpool to Grenoble and Salzburg. Flights start 19 December with fares from £2.49.

Bolton Wanderers smashed their club transfer record yesterday, signing Nicolas Anelka for a record £8 million. Bolton manager Sam Allardyce insists that the capture of the French striker is not a gamble, despite the player being nicknamed the Incredible Sulk.

The Cumbria Tourist Board has changed its name to Cumbria Tourism. It will also move its headquarters from Windermere to Staveley at the end of August.
