easyJet asks passengers not to pay security surcharge

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Budget airline easyJet is asking its passengers not to pay the £2 security surcharge that Liverpool John Lennon Airport will introduce in the New Year. The airline says it has a long-term contract with Liverpool Airport that already includes all security services provided to its customers.

There is a lot of interest in the value of UK airports to overseas companies at the moment and it is highly likely that Liverpool Airport’s owners will be attempting to make its finances look as attractive as possible, but we will not allow our passengers to be charged just to benefit Peel Airport Holdings.’
