Musical show hits Garstang

Cre8 Theatre will be premiering their new show ‘Pop Around the Clock’ at the Pickerings Hotel in Garstang on June 23. The show features songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 00’s, including ‘I Want You Back’ by the Jackson Five, ‘The
Scientist’ by Coldplay, and a cappella version of ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E King.

New ride at Camelot theme park

Chorley’s Camelot theme park will unveil their new rollercoaster on June 23. The £3 million Knightmare ride will subject riders to a g-force of 5, more than any other ride in the UK. The ride measures over 1½ miles, reaching a height of 87 feet and speeds of over 40 miles per hour.

Bury and District Agricultural Society Annual Show

Bury and District Agricultural Society will be holding their Annual Show at Burrs Country Park on Sunday July 1. Entertainment and attractions will include the Band of the Fusiliers Association, the Pennine Bernese Mountain Dogs, a display by the Rossendale Dog Training Club, arts and crafts exhibitions, and displays of vintage cars and other vehicles.

Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for seniors and children aged 12 – 15. A free bus service will operate between the park and Bolton Street station.

Bolton landlord organises smoking ban protest

The landlord of a popular Bolton pub is planning a protest against England’s new smoking ban on the day it comes into law. Nick Hogan of The Swan is inviting smokers to light up in his pub on July 1 and is prepared to go to court.

On July 1 2007 all enclosed public spaces and workplaces in England will become smoke free. Anybody not complying with the law will be committing a criminal offence. Individuals flouting the law will receive a fixed penalty notice of £50, while the fine for failing to prevent smoking is a maximum of £2500.
