Bickershaw Festival returns after 35 years
February 13th, 2007Wigan’s legendary Bickershaw Festival is to be resurrected later this year. The original festival took place in 1972 and attracted famous bands such as The Grateful Dead, Captain Beefheart, Hawkwind, The Kinks, Donovan and Wishbone Ash.
The festival will take place on the original site at Heron Lodge Farm on Bickershaw Lane on the weekend beginning Friday June 29 2007. The line-up has yet to be finalised but organiser Chris Hewitt is hopeful that it will include top acts such as The Fratellis, The Kooks, Badly Drawn Boy, Doves and Johnny Vegas. Ticket prices and availability will be announced in the near future.

weird….
i just bought a grateful dead cd that has a few tracks from their performance at the original bickershaw back in 72…
i googled the album title…”Steppin’ out with the dead” and found a post about the album on wikipedia…. there were link s there to the venue played, so i ended up hitting the link that brought me to the bickershaw wikipedia page, and that had a link to this website….
as an american who is going to be in england this summer i really appreciate the synchonicity that the universe provides us with, via this tool we call “internet”
