Bickershaw Festival 2007 cancelled
March 17th, 2007Wigan’s Bickershaw Festival has been cancelled. Organiser Chris Hewitt says this is due to his son’s ill health and local opposition. He is hopeful that the event will be held next year.

I’M SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT BICKERSHAW FESTIVAL IS NOT TO BE CELEBRATED BY A NEW EVENT. I ATTENDED THE ORIGINAL FESTIVAL OVER THE WEEKEND 5TH TO 7TH MAY 1972, WATCHING THE GRATEFUL DEAD, THE KINKS, HAWKWIND, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART, STACKRIDGE, DR. JOHN, DONOVAN, COUNTRY JOE MCDONALD & BRINSLEY SCHWARZ (AMONGST MANY OTHERS)PRESENT A TREMENDOUS SHOW IN THE RAIN & THE MUD. HERE’S HOPING ALL WILL BE WELL FOR 2008!!

here here, was well looking forward to it, spesh as i could cycle there (but possibly not back from it), I have one of the few remaining programs of the event…Anyone who wants t-shirts, etc, let me know.

Pity Bickershaw 2007 is cancelled! Though being the first generation Deadhead I don’t think I might have gone…….well depending on the line-up!! and may be pursuaded by my daughter. May be next year…. when I’m 60. Was just thumbing through the original programme just couple of days ago…..also found the poster, taken off the wall or somewhere…..all folded and creased _ oh the memories. Wish you all the best for next years gig…..Hope it goes on!!!!

If Chris Hewitt’s record label “Ozit” is anything to go by, Bickershaw would have been a horrible shoddy mess with no financial compensation for the artists.

Hi, Bickershaw Festival - what have you got in the way of t- shirts etc. Also I would love to get a photocopy of your program. All I have left is my original ticket. Let me know

Was there, was introduced to “whiskymac” by deadhead roadcrew who also let me sit at the front of the stage.
Sorry to hear its cancelled…some of the bands are still about and I wouldn’t miss the Kinks this time!
We have a great festie up here now called “Solfest” and if you need the odd hand with any organisation next year (or MC-ing) let me know.

Sorry to hear it’s been cancelled, I live in Bickershaw and was so looking forward to it. I was only 15 the first time around and wasn’t allowed to go…but it didn’t stop me sneaking in!!!
