Bluebird donated to Ruskin Museum

Gina Campbell, the daughter of world water speed record breaker Donald Campbell, has donated the wreck of her father’s boat the Bluebird to the Ruskin Museum.

Donald Campbell died while trying to break his own world water speed record on Coniston Water in 1967. The boat was recovered in 2001.

Previous attempts by Gina to obtain finance from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the craft have failed. The Ruskin Museum intends to launch a fund to raise the £750,000 needed to build an extension to display the Bluebird.
