Katie Price visits Manchester

Katie Price, aka Jordan, will be in Manchester this Saturday. The glamour model will be at Boots in the Arndale Centre from 11 am until noon to sign autographs and promote her new perfume ‘Besotted’.

Booths get planning permission for new store

Preston-based supermarket chain Booths have been given planning permission to build a new store in Penrith. It will be located on the site of Bowman’s Carpets on Brunswick Road.

Booths was founded in 1847 and now has more than 25 stores across North West England.

Royal to open second phase of Liverpool One

The Princess Royal will officially open the second phase of the Liverpool One shopping and retail centre next week.

The second phase includes a 14-screen Odeon cinema, Chavasse Park, restaurants and bars, and numerous shops (Ann Summers, Bench, Crocs, Jones the Bootmaker, Swarovski, Waterstone’s etc.).

Princess Anne will perform the grand opening at Chavasse Park at noon on October 1 2008.

Bolton furniture store closes

Rivington Taylor, Bolton’s biggest independent furniture store, has closed just 2 years after opening. The company’s remaining assets are being administered by insolvency practitioners Centrum Recovery Limited.

The store, owned by husband and wife team Mark and Alison Haslam, was based at Bolton’s Central Retail Park.

Ryan Giggs at Zavvi

Ryan Giggs will be at Zavvi in the Manchester Arndale Centre on September 25. The Manchester United legend will be signing copies of his new DVD True Red.

The DVD includes rare and exclusive home footage of Ryan, family videos, and peeks behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

Fans wishing to meet Ryan should collect a wristband from the Zavvi store. They’re available on the day from 9 am. Ryan will be in the store from 5 pm onwards.

Free parking in Morecambe

Lancaster City Council has decided to offer free car parking on all its Morecambe car parks to boost Christmas trade in the town.

The move follows discussions with local trade and tourism organisations. The offer applies on Sundays only from November 16 until Christmas.

New Stores at Liverpool 1

Grosvenor has signed up several new retailers for their Liverpool 1 shopping development. Mango, Blue, Lakeland, Vodaphone, and Ann Summers will all open stores later this year.

Bobby Charlton in Preston

Ex-Manchester United and England player Sir Bobby Charlton will be in Preston next week. He will be signing copies of his new book My England Years at Waterstone’s in Fishergate from 12.30 pm on September 25 2008.

Bolton shopping centre reopens tomorrow

Bolton’s new Market Place shopping centre opens tomorrow after a £40 million redevelopment. New stores include H&M, Zara, Jane Norman, Principles, Warehouse, Lush, Starbucks, Moss Bros, Claire’s Accessories and Carphone Warehouse.

Mayor Councillor Anthony Connell will open the new centre at 10am and the first 50 shoppers who queue outside will receive £50 to spend in the new centre.

Marks & Spencer signs up to Tithebarn project

Preston’s ambitious Tithebarn regeneration project has signed Marks & Spencer as their second anchor store. M&S will relocate their existing store to a new 150,000 sq ft store when the development opens in 2014.

Barbara McAlister, Marks & Spencer Preston Fishergate Store Manager said, ‘The Preston Tithebarn scheme will enable us to further strengthen our offer in Preston with a fresh new shopping environment. The new store will also offer enhanced career opportunities for our current team in Preston, who will be able to transfer to Preston Tithebarn with us in 2014.’

John Lewis signed onto the scheme last year.
