On reading this article I thought I’d view my opinion on the subject. As a teenager in the early eighties I became a life long soul fan particularly Northern Soul. I have travelled to and from to England over the years To Soul events etc. I have been to Wigan once and past the site where the Legendary Wigan Casino once stood and couldn’t believe that there was nothing there to represent the once voted ‘Best Discoteque In the World’. With all the Media coverage, documenteries, books, articles etc I don’t think It would be such a bad idea if the Wigan council or whoever put a monument of some sort in its place.

I thing the new shopping centre is great but I agree with Paul that some sort of monument or plaque should mark the spot where the casino stood. Maybe a plaque just as you go in the shopping centre or inside. My dad used to work at the casino and him and my mum often Reminisce about how good it was and how crouded it used to get, people from all over used to flock there. It would be a shame not to pay tribute to something that was so famous all over the world.
