Centre Retail Park

The Centre Retail Park (formerly known as the Elk Mill Retail Park) is a large shopping park in Oldham.

Shops here include Argos, Asda Living, Bathstore (bathrooms), Bensons for Beds (beds and bedroom furniture), Boots, Carphone Warehouse (mobile phones, laptops and netbooks, etc.), CSL (sofas), Carpetright (carpets, rugs, and floor coverings), Comet (washing machines, dishwashers, appliances, computers, cameras and camcorders etc.), Currys and PC World, DFS (sofas, chairs, and furniture), Dreams (beds, mattresses, bedding, and furniture), Harveys (furniture store), JD Sports (trainers, football boots, sports clothes etc.), Next, Pets at Home, SCS (sofas), and Scotts (menswear).

The retail park also boasts several places to eat and drink; KFC, Pizza Hut, Nando’s, and a 24-hour McDonald’s restaurant. There’s also a DW Sports Fitness Centre and a Total petrol station with a car wash.

Shops at the Centre Retail Park are open 7 days a week. Opening times vary by store.

The Centre Retail Park is situated in Royton, 1½ miles north of Oldham town centre and close to the intersection of the A627 (M) and Broadway.

To reach it by car leave the M62 motorway at Junction 20 and take the A627 (M), signposted for Oldham. After driving for 2 miles take the A627 (signposted for Oldham), and then the A663 (Broadway) for Royton. The Centre Retail Park is immediately on the left. Drivers with satellite navigation systems can use the postcode OL2 5HX to find it.

Buses to the Centre Retail Park include the 406 service from Oldham to Middleton, and the 402 service from Oldham to Royal Oldham Hospital and Royton.

The Centre Retail Park is situated on the site of Elk Mill, the last cotton mill to open in Oldham (in 1928) and the last to close (in 1998).

I live near the retail park and have been going there since it opened. It has never took me anywhere near an hour to get in or out. 15 minutes at the most. So anyone who says an hour is lying.

I think the retail park is hard to get in and out on busy days so just go during the week when you're off.

Love the retail park.. When you fancy a drive out to mooch round the shops it's great! Pizza Hut for lunch or there's MacDonalds or KFC. And to Adam, that's what you get when the sales start, my brother queued for an hour at 4 in the morning when he worked at Next! Just go on a normal day and i'ts great!

Elk Mill is so cool, but if you can make JD and Scotts bigger that will be better.

I've been stuck in the traffic there. And there was a plan for another entrance/exit when it was built by the man who owned it all, but Oldham council refused the planning permission for the other entrance/exit!

JD and Scotts are the best, but it would be better if they cut the prices of their clothes.

Yes I agree with Adam. It's a total nightmare when you want to leave the retail park. I too have been stuck there for well over an hour. Surely the planners must have known this before they built it. But then again it's Oldham Council. Need I say more!

This retail park is mad! Do not go there on a busy day. We went today, it is Sunday, 2 days after boxing day, and parked fine but when we went to leave the car park, there was total gridlock. Hundreds of cars hooting and there is only one exit! We were sat in the car for about 30mins until it moved forward only 1 place then we eventually left the car park after 1 hour 10mins! Crazy and very disappointing!
