Appleby-in-Westmorland
This delightful market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in the Eden Valley, 10 miles south-east of Penrith. Guarded on three sides by a loop in the River Eden, and on the fourth by Appleby Castle, it is famous for its annual Horse Fair.
Appleby train station is on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.
Appleby's Tourist Information Centre is situated in the Moot Hall on Boroughgate.
