George Hotel

The George Hotel is situated in the centre of Penrith and is the town’s oldest hotel. This former coaching inn offers 32 en-suite bedrooms, all of which have been refurbished and offer satellite TVs, direct dial telephones, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel’s restaurant makes good use of local produce whilst the bar’s offerings include a selection of more than 30 malt whiskies. Guests also enjoy complimentary day membership of a local swimming pool and gym.

Worth treating yourself a little and upgrading to a club room. Friendly, courteous staff who really tried their best to keep you happy. Slight negative on the parking front, but all in all not a bad little place.

This is an ideal base from which to explore the Lake District. The room was very clean and spacious and there was plenty of light if you wanted to work. Friendly approachable staff and a good selection on the menu.

No problems with the hotel itself, but there was a bit of noise from the street when the pubs closed. Penrith was lovely and very interesting.

We used the hotel as a base for exploring the Lake District. The staff were friendly and the restaurant excellent. It's right in the centre of Penrith and easy to find.
