The Roundthorn Country House hotel enjoys a peaceful location just north of Penrith. Set in its own gardens, this Grade II listed Georgian house offers 10 rooms, each with en-suite bathroom, TV, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.

Amenities include a bar, lounge with open fire, and onsite car parking. Roundthorn doesn’t have a restaurant, but bar meals are available.

The hotel makes a good base for exploring the Lake District, and is only a few minutes drive from the M6. Attractions nearby include Brougham Castle.

This was an ideal place from which to explore the Lakes and both the house itself and the grounds were very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable and well appointed and the staff friendly and attentive. Remember they only do breakfasts and snacks - no evening meal.

Nice place to stay. The building itself is lovely and the grounds are very well kept. Parking was no problem and the views were fantastic. The room was very comfortable and I found the staff to be very helpful and professional.
