Royal Oak Appleby

This family-run 17th century coaching inn is situated in Appleby-in-Westmorland in the Eden Valley. It offers 10 rooms, each with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Many have original features such as exposed beams and brickwork.

Rates include a full English breakfast that makes good use of local produce. The public bar serves quality real ales, while the restaurant offers a seasonally changing menu.

A charming place to stay and very clean and well equipped. There are some great original features, like oak beams, which gave the place a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent and the village is very close by. The bathroom was a little on the small side, mind you, we are certainly not complaining given what we paid to stay here.

This was a great little find. The building had tons of character and the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and they provided excellent food and a superb range of beers. Well worth a look in our opinion.
