Travelodge Penrith

This Travelodge hotel is ideal for those looking for a cheap base from which to explore the Lake District. Situated on the A66, west of Penrith, and just a mile from the M6 motorway, its rates are amongst the lowest in the area.

Rooms are simple but clean, and include an en-suite bathroom, TV, WiFi (small fee), and hospitality tray. The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, but there’s a Little Chef next door. Ample free car parking is available for registered guests.

Rheged is just a short walk from the property. Pooley Bridge, Ullswater, Keswick, Derwent Water, and Bassenthwaite Lake are all within easy driving distance.

The whole family stayed here for the night, four of us, and we all agreed that it was an excellent budget choice. The room was very clean and spacious, and had much more in it than we expected. It was a great base for a couple of days to explore the Lake District and we would definitely stay again. The staff were nice as well.

By far the cheapest place we stayed at in the Lake District and not worse than a lot of the others which were far more expensive and just seemed to charge for location. The place had probably seen better days, but the room was spotless and smelt nice, as did the bathroom, and the staff were really friendly. We would stay again.
