Ribble Valley Attractions & Activities
The attractions and countryside of the Ribble Valley are an often bypassed in favour of the Lake District. This is a real shame as the valley is home to some of the North West’s most captivating scenery. JRR Tolkien was a frequent visitor to Stonyhurst College and it is widely believed that the area provided the inspiration for the idyllic Shire in the Lord of the Rings.
Leaflets for most of these attractions can be picked up at the Clitheroe Tourist Information Centre.
