Sawley Abbey

Little remains of this Cistercian abbey other than its foundations and a few of the walls. Its setting is however fabulous and a great spot for a relaxing country walk.

The site is maintained by English Heritage. Information boards provide some information about its history.

It’s situated in the village of Sawley, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and around 3 miles northeast of Clitheroe.
