Healey Dell Nature Reserve
Healey Dell Nature Reserve opened in 1972 and lies between Rochdale and Whitworth. Here, the River Spodden winds its way through a steep-sided valley and ancient woodland that’s home to wide variety of birds and animals.
Nature trails include a section of the abandoned Rochdale to Bacup railway line with a 100ft high viaduct offering spectacular views. A visitor centre at Healey Hall Mill houses a permanent exhibition about the industrial heritage of the reserve.
