Stockport Air Raid Shelters
During the WWII a labyrinth of air raid shelters almost 1 mile long was carved into sandstone cliffs in Stockport town centre. Up to 7,000 people used them to shelter from German bombing raids. After lying forgotten for many years, the tunnels are now open to the public.
The shelters are open 7 days a week between 1 pm and 5 pm.
