Stockport Plaza
Take a trip back to the golden age of cinema at Stockport Plaza, a Grade II listed building lovingly restored to former glory by a team of enthusiastic volunteers.
This Super Cinema opened in 1932 and offered the people of Stockport a mix of movies and theatrical performances. Between 1967 and 1999 it served as a bingo hall before being purchased by the Stockport Plaza Trust in 2000.
Today it offers a varied programme of musicals, classic films, comedy shows, theatrical and dance performances, pantomimes, and more.
Magical touches include a Compton Organ that rises out of the floor, providing the sound track for silent movies, musical interludes, and rounding off the evening with a rendition of the national anthem.
