Stockport Viaduct

Stockport Viaduct was built in 1840 to carry trains from Manchester to London across the River Mersey. Over 11 million bricks were used in the construction of its 27 arches, making it one of the largest brick structures in Europe. Manchester Artist LS Lowry featured it in a number of his works including Industrial Landscape and The Viaduct.
