Haigh Hall & Country Park

Once the ancestral home of local landlord the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres, Haigh Hall was built in the mid-nineteenth century. It was sold to Wigan Council in 1947.

The hall itself is only open for special occasions, but the 250 acres of park and woodland surrounding the house are now a public park. Features here include:

  • Craft gallery
  • Nature trails
  • Children’s playground
  • Crazy golf course
  • Miniature railway
  • Model village

Free parking is available for 1,000 cars.

Wigan’s Haigh Hall and Country Park will host one of the North West’s largest bonfire nights on Sunday November 4. In addition to a large bonfire, the event will feature a professional fireworks display, Rock FM DJ’s, and a fun fair.
The event starts at 3 pm and tickets, priced £5 for adults and £3 for children, must be purchased in advance from the Wigan Tourist Information Centre (01942 825677). All profits from the event will be donated to local breast cancer charities.
