North Yorkshire is a county in Yorkshire and the Humber/North East England. It is bordered by Durham, Cumbria, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The county town is Northallerton. Cities and towns include Middlesbrough, York, Harrogate, Scarborough, and Redcar.
Most of the county lies within the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-on-Tees are classified as part of North East England.
National Trust properties in North Yorkshire include Fountains Abbey, Beningbrough Hall, and Nunnington Hall.
Other places to visit and days out include the National Railway Museum, York Minster, Dalby Forest, RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Jorvik Viking Centre, and Castle Howard.
The A1(M) Motorway runs through North Yorkshire and connects London to Scotland.
The M62 Motorway also passes through North Yorkshire. It offers a road link to destinations such as Leeds, Bradford, Manchester, Warrington, and Liverpool.
York is the busiest railway station in the county. It is on the East Coast Main Line.
