Ellesmere Port

Ellesmere Port is an industrial town in north Cheshire, on the southern part of the Wirral Peninsula. It developed as a port in the latter half of the 18th century with the opening of the Shropshire Union Canal (and later the Manchester Ship Canal). Today the town is dominated by a Shell oil refinery and a large Vauxhall car factory.

Despite the industrial landscape Ellesmere Port is home to a number of attractions including the National Waterways Museum, the Blue Planet Aquarium, Ness Botanic Gardens, and the Coliseum Retail and Leisure Park.

With more than 140 shops Cheshire Oaks is the UK’s largest outlet centre and draws bargain hunters from all over North West England. Even more shops are located next door at the Coliseum Retail and Leisure Park.
