Spaceport is a space-themed attraction at Seacombe, a district in the town of Wallasey on the Wirral. Its location next to the Seacombe Ferry Terminal means it is easily accessible from Liverpool.
It features several themed galleries spread over 2 levels. The Space Dome is a Planetarium showing state-of-the-art features on a 360 degree dome while The Milky Way is an interactive gallery focusing on our galaxy. Other galleries feature exhibitions about the planets in the Solar System, the creation of the universe, and a space flight simulation.
Spaceport also hosts a variety of temporary space and science fiction related exhibitions and shows. Past exhibitions have included Wallace and Gromit in Space, Alien Wars, and Dr Who.
Facilities at Spaceport include a free car park, toilets and baby changing areas, café, and a gift shop selling space-related souvenirs and memorabilia.
For details of exhibitions, opening times, and admission prices visit the official Spaceport website.
The attraction is located next to the Seacombe Ferry Terminal. Mersey Ferries offer a direct service between Pier Head in Liverpool and the Seacombe Ferry Terminal with a journey time of just 10 minutes. They also offer 50-minute River Explorer Cruises calling at Pier Head, Seacombe and Woodside.
The closest train station is the Merseyrail station at Hamilton Square in Birkenhead. Buses leave from here for Spaceport and Seacombe.
