Trotters World of Animals

Trotters World of Animals is a small zoo in the Lake District, home to over 100 species of animals including antelopes, zebras, gibbons, meerkats, tapirs, birds of prey, and reptiles. Handling of the animals is actively encouraged and there are displays and demonstrations held throughout the day.

Facilities include an indoor soft play area, a café, picnic tables, toilets, and a gift shop selling toys, local produce, books, and postcards.

Trotters World of Animals is open every day of the year except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Opening times are 10 am to 5.30 pm (4.30 pm in the winter) with last admission one hour before closing.

The zoo is one of the cheapest attractions in Cumbria. Tickets for adults cost £7.75, seniors £6.75, and children (3 – 14) £5.75. Under 3’s enjoy free admission.

The zoo is situated at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake, next to the Armathwaite Hall Hotel and 7 miles drive from both Keswick and Cockermouth.

From Keswick follow the A591 north and after around 6½ miles turn left at the Castle Inn Hotel onto the B5291. Trotters World of Animals is ½ mile up the road on the right hand side. Visitors with satellite navigation systems can use the postcode CA12 4RD. Plenty of free car parking is available.
